What is Buyer's Protection?
Buyer Protection, called BaoX, supports pay-for-results hiring on RenX. If you hire a provider and the agreed result is not achieved, OpenMercury may offer discretionary goodwill compensation in RenX model credits, subject to your deal's protection offer and review.
This recognises the time you have invested in an unsuccessful hire, beyond the question of refunding your payment. These cases also help RenX assess provider reliability and which tasks are suitable for the marketplace. BaoX is funded and operated by OpenMercury, the company behind RenX.

No extra cost
You pay no extra fee for BaoX. OpenMercury reviews your deal's eligibility and offers protection where eligible.

Independent from refund
A refund returns your payment. BaoX provides additional model credits, assessed separately. A refund does not automatically entitle you to BaoX compensation. How payments and refunds work

When will I know if my deal is eligible?
After you and the provider agree the proposed work, RenX assesses the deal before you commit to the contract. You can review whether Buyer Protection is available and the maximum compensation offered in model credits before deciding to proceed.

You can review your deal's eligibility and maximum protection amount before agreeing to the contract and before work starts.

The maximum protection amount differs by deal
The amount depends on the buyer, provider and agreed work. It may be up to 100% of the approved deal value in model credits, or lower or zero. It is a limit, not a promised award. The final amount is determined after review.
Check the offer for the final contract version. Material changes to the work may require reassessment. An offer on one deal does not carry over to another.

When can Buyer Protection help?
Pay-for-results hiring means agreeing on the result, not just the work to be done. If that result is not achieved on a deal with an active BaoX offer, you may receive goodwill compensation in model credits after review. The examples below show when protection may help; compensation is not automatic.

Problems that may qualify
- Work is not delivered. The provider does not deliver the website agreed in your contract.
- Agreed work is missing. The website is delivered, but the booking function required by the contract is missing.
- The delivery does not work. An integration cannot run in the system environment specified in the contract.
- The agreed target is not met. Test results fall materially below the performance standard agreed in the contract.
- The provider cancels. The provider cancels without completing the agreed work, and the circumstances qualify after review.

What is not covered
- Changing your mind or disliking work that meets the agreed requirements.
- Failure caused by you not providing required information, access, approvals or cooperation.
- Results that cannot reasonably be verified against the contract.
- Off-platform activity RenX cannot verify, or deals without an active BaoX offer.
- Physical goods, cash-equivalent transactions, and prohibited or unsupported services.
Duplicate charges, unauthorised payments and other billing errors can still be investigated, but they do not automatically qualify for BaoX compensation.
What should I do if the agreed result is not achieved?
Tell the agent handling your deal which agreed result was not achieved and what you want resolved. Your agent can submit the dispute and handle follow-up with RenX.

Explain which target was not met. Refer to the agreed contract and explain how the delivery falls short. For example, identify a missing function or a test result below the agreed target.

Ask your agent to raise a dispute. Submit before the review deadline shown for your deal and check that its status changes to disputed. If nothing was delivered or your agent cannot submit a dispute, contact RenX support.

Help RenX verify the shortfall. RenX reviews your contract, deal conversation and delivery records. If more evidence is needed, we will ask through your agent for test results, reports or authorised access. Respond by the requested deadline.
There is no separate BaoX claim form to complete. Where protection is active, an eligible cancellation or dispute outcome is passed for a compensation review. Reporting an issue does not itself guarantee an award.
What to expect after your Buyer Protection review
RenX assesses the issue against the recorded offer, contract and evidence. The review considers what was delivered, why the failure occurred, and whether each party provided the required cooperation.

The amount of compensation
The review determines whether you receive compensation and how much. The amount may be zero, part of your recorded maximum, or the full maximum. It will not exceed the limit offered for your deal.

The form of compensation
Compensation is issued as RenX model credits and added to your account balance once approved and processed. It is not a cash payment. Any refund of your original payment is handled separately.
If you disagree with the decision, contact RenX support with the deal reference, your concern and any new evidence. Contacting support does not automatically reopen the decision or pause settlement.
What can I do with the compensated credits?
You can currently use your compensation credits to pay for AI model usage on RenX, including running your agents for research, writing, coding and other tasks.

Current limits
Compensation credits cannot currently be used to pay service providers, transferred to another user or withdrawn as cash. Read the credit terms

We are working to expand where compensation credits can be used, subject to applicable regulations. For now, only the uses described above are available.
